Civil engineers envision sustainable infrastructures in a cost-effective, environmentally and socially responsible manner. We see our future graduates as professionals living up to their title of "civil engineers". This means taking responsibility for civil society by solving complex issues with sustainable methods - building, repairing or rehabilitating e.g. tunnels, roads, bridges and much more. Why sustainable methods? Because the building sector contributes enormously to CO2 emissions - rethinking and walking new paths is a necessity. With sustainable and alternative building materials, effective resource management, energy-efficient building design, digital methods and new structural methods, there is enormous potential to reduce our ecological footprint.
Civil engineers master the mathematical, scientific and computational tools to solve problems associated with the development and maintenance of a civil society.
